Celebrate Earth Day in May by meeting homeowners who will share their knowledge and experiences about sustainable living choices they have made. Don’t forget to register (button above).

We have five homes available for your visit this year.
Visit any number of them.
Each has a unique system.

  1. Poor Farm Road
    1. 33 Solar panels on barn roof powering a 13.2 kw solar system
    2. 2 Bosch heat pumps (2/3 ton each) for the house, using flexible ducts and high velocity system to move heat and air conditioning throughout the house (original heating system is oil-powered forced hot water/radiators)
    3. Battery back-up
    4. HVAC system is made by UNICO
    5. Built in 1740, barn circa 1850
  2. Littleton County Road
    1. Two WaterFurnace 7 Series geothermal heat pumps installed in January, replacing propane heat and central air conditioning
    2. 3-ton unit with new ductwork installed on first floor to replace baseboard radiators
    3. 4-ton split unit using existing ductwork on second floor
    4. Rheem hybrid air source heat pump water heater, with pre-heat tank fed by geothermal desuperheater
  3. Mill Road
    1. Rivendell is a small, new construction net-zero home built in 2017.
    2. Even though it is connected to the grid, its 56 solar panels generate more electricity (on a yearly basis) than Rivendell consumes.
    3. Batteries store energy from solar to be used after sundown.
    4. HVAC comes from an air source heat pump which is the only load greater than the electric car.
    5. No fuel oil, gas, propane or gasoline is ever burned.
  4. Prospect Hill
    1. Newly installed Geothermal HVAC consists of two 3-ton WaterFurnace Series 7 vertical systems with low global warming potential (GWP) refrigerant and one 4-ton WaterFurnace Series 7 split system also with GWP refrigerant

    3. 26 solar panels generating 10 kw
  5. Withington Lane
    1. Rooftop Solar: REC Solar Panels (395 watts).  Quantity 28
    2. Microinverters: ENPHASE Energy Inc (240V). Quantity 28
    3. Hot Water Heat Pump: State. 80 gallons
    4. Air Source Heat Pumps “mini splits”: LG:24K BTU wall unit (family room) and 28 BTU for four 7k BTU wall units/bedrooms)
    5. EV Lawn Equipment: Greenworks Lawn Mower, Snow Blower, and Backpack Blower
