Initiatives
We have received grant funding for our work in the following areas:
$150,000 with the Energy Advisory Committee from the Department of Energy Resources to match the funding from the Massachusetts School Building Authority for the Bromfield School schematic drawings for a new HVAC conversion to Heat Pumps for decarbonizing the school’s heating and cooling systems. This was made possible as the Town was designated the 28th Climate Leader municipality in the state (November 2025), making funding available up to $1,150,000 for energy efficiency and decarbonization projects.
$206,851 with the Energy Advisory Committee from the Massachusetts Department of Energy Resources for the public library HVAC conversion to Heat Pumps, thus decarbonizing the library’s heating and cooling systems.
$360,000 for Energy Manager Salary and Benefits for three years to improve efficiency and decarbonization of Municipal buildings. Full time position shared with Ayer, Shirley and Groton.
Consultant help for updating of the Town’s Municipal Decarbonation Plan from the MA Department of Energy Resources
$6,226 in collaboration with Conservation Commission for Invasive Species education and mitigation from Nashua, Squannacook, and Nissitissit Rivers Wild & Scenic Stewardship Council
$47,390 Open Space Residential Bylaw, Tree Preservation Bylaw, Wetlands Bylaw update, Website Development and Speakers from the Commonwealth of Massachusetts Municipal Vulnerability Preparedness Program
$1,500 Going Green Flag Project from the Community Foundation of North Central Massachusetts
