HARVARD’S FALL 2026 REPAIR CAFE

Harvard’s Repair Cafe Returns

What do you do with a broken toaster, a lamp that doesn’t turn on, or clothing needing repair? Throw them “away”? No way!

Have you ever thought about where “away” is when you throw something “away”? In many cases, discarded household waste ends up in a landfill or an incinerator. At the Repair Cafe, you’ll find fixers to help break that harmful cycle… You might even learn how to fix something yourself.

Volunteer repair experts will be available to help make repairs free of charge for small electrical appliances, clothing, furniture, toys, wireless items and more. Visitors are asked to bring an item from home, plus one or two spares. If time permits, our repair experts will try to fix them all.

Repair Cafe Harvard is an HCIC initiative promoting repair as an alternative to tossing things out.  Repairing reduces waste and the demand for new products which conserves precious resources.  By reducing the waste going into landfills, the resulting methane gas is reduced.  Methane is a greenhouse gas that is more potent than CO2.
